Fangirl Checklist

I’ve lost my marbles check

I am packing my bags to get ready for Tartan Week and by packing my bags I mean I bought a scarf, a pair of boots and the newest cover edition to Dragonfly in Amber and looked at my carry on luggage.

That’s when this thought crossed my mind wtf am I doing? I am a grown woman fangirling like it is the 90’s. Actually I wasn’t this bad back then.
I fluctuated crushes between Donnie Wahlberg and Christian Slater. I can still feel the sting of the thrown pillow at my face from my brother when I yelled “Christian Slater” when he had a cameo in a Star trek movie. That’s the last time I can remember going a little nuts over someone on TV. And as always confession time…while I was looking for pics of these two they are still pretty swoon worthy! Just for kicks I also listened to my favorite NKOTB song. Tonight

Back to the here and now crazy. In the throes of my adolescent years I would never have gotten over the moon excited over anything but this is totally me since Sam Heughan arrived as Jamie Fraser.

How do you fan girl?
Can you quote every line from every episode?
Watched every video on YouTube that Sam has appeared in?
Have a Sam Heughan ringtone? “say it with me, Sassenach

Here is a list of things I have noticed about myself.
Posters on the wall check
Outlander collection check
Magazines that I normally wouldn’t buy check
Phone lock screen of Sam check
DVR programmed for upcoming show appearances check
Tickets to New York check
Scrolling through twitter at midnight to see where the Eagle has landed (yes, when new Sam pics post I have to say.. “The EAGLE has landed” in Australia, Japan, the cover of TV Guide) check

Memories of when Sam walked by me that are recalled with him being captivated by my unearthly beauty that he was forced to keep walking and ignore me or he would be doomed for life because I’m happily married and could never leave and the pain THE PAIN (said in a shaky voice) of living without me was too much check

Practicing my whisky sipping skills or even wine because the fandom gods may have Tobias walk by and see the way I sip wine and he will fall hopelessly in love with me and I’ll have to cash in on my celebrity pass 😉 because I totally have a crush on Tobias Menzies and my awesome husband will completely understand
“Ouch” he totally threw a pillow at me, guess I’ll pass on the wine sipping.

I’ve got to admit fangirling at an older age is way more fun! check

Ten more days til Outlander

  1. I’m spending my days studying from 7 am to 8 pm and fangirling is the only thing that keeps me sane. IS IT Weird? luckily i’m getting my degree in september. Now I know I’m not the only One, so thank you! PS Sorry about my English, IT’s not my First language as you probably can tell.

  2. This “fangirling” thing is new to me as well… through the years I liked this band and that but never really movie people… never crazy about anyone. A few times I’ve thought that I’m in the process of losing my mind or something to that effect cause I can’t seem to be able to look at a pic of our bonny Laird without swooning! It’s good to know that there are like minded women out there and I’ve not just fallen off my rocker.

  3. Hey Donna, a question about your joining MPC: I’m currently trying to join and I’m having some difficulty. Not that you are their technical support but I was just wondering if you had had any trouble.

  4. Mine were The Beatles in Portland Oregon, even managed to be right where their limo drove by and saw Paul in the window! I can also identify with Lise as far as friends and family, but if I get the chance for a ‘meet and greet’ and can afford the airfare I’m going. Sounds crazy even to me.
On a serious note, Outlander and Sam have reignited my desire to research my Scottish ancestry and get back in shape after 30yrs., two battles with cancer and two hip replacements. So far have lost 70lbs. and joined MPC. I’ll never climb Kili, but would like to think I’ll be horse riding again.

  5. Oh man, I’m a fangirl of NKOTB too. Although I haven’t been to any of the cruises (hard to go with a husband and 2 little ones), I have been to the meet and greet and all their concerts!!! Love Donnie!!!

To Sam, I haven’t done anything crazy yet but is willing fly out (US only) if I’m able to score tickets where he will meet with fans =) I already told my hubby that and he’s okay with it.

  6. Totally in agreement with you. The only problem is most of my friends and family don’t understand that ” crush” for Sam because I never had that before for no one. So I find your comments and general presence a very great source of comfort and reassurance on my own sanity. I am making it to New-York from Montreal on april 9th and really hope to have a little peek at Himself and meet some of HH friends.

  7. Oh, can I identify with your rules! I am 70 and have not been a ‘fan’ since I stood inline outside in the rain for Elvis!! I wonder if Sam has any idea of how many ole gals he has heated up!! I don’t even have ovaries anymore but they explode wherever they are !! I may be older than dirt but he sure manages to tap into my sexuality!! I can not physically go to NYC, but my spirit we be with y’all! Post lots of pictures of our king of men!!

  8. I get it, but it bothers me that he must be weirded out that the majority of his fans are middle aged married women. But, of course, since he ages into his 60’s in the books, Jamie becomes a sex symbol and a hero for our age.
